 Write, edit, and manage publishing projects, including consumer web sites, patient education booklets, CME programs, PowerPoint presentations, feature articles, newsletters, book chapters, and technical reports for the American Medical Association, Harvard Medical School, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, Genentech, World Health Organization, National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NIH), U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, National Wildlife Federation, Nature (PBS), several medical communication companies, and others.

 

 

Recent Freelance Projects

Patient education booklets and CME programs - American Medical Association - Chicago, IL
Wrote guide to depression for patients and family; AMA distributed 500,000 copies. Wrote similar booklets on hepatitis C and overactive bladder. Wrote CME programs on chronic bronchitis and hereditary cancer syndromes.

 

PowerPoint medical education programs - Jespersen & Associates, Boston, MA

Wrote several lengthy presentations on new radiation devices for treating breast cancer and brain tumors. Presentations will be used by expert physicians to educate peers on the devices.

 

Rio Grande Silvery Minnow Recovery Plan - U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service - Albuquerque, NM

Managed the updating and rewriting of an endangered species recovery plan for the Rio Grande silvery minnow, working with a large team of scientists and others from numerous agencies.

SPDNetwork.org - The KID Foundation - Littleton, CO
Managed overhaul of large web site focusing on children’s health. Reorganized the navigation scheme of complex site, rewrote all content, supervised graphic designers and programmers.

Disease management backgrounders - Aegis Creative, Littleton, CO
Wrote portions of extensive background documents on diseases and drugs (chronic lymphocytic leukemia, thrombosis, Herceptin), to be used as educational tools for pharmaceutical sales people.

 

Journal article/short articles - Consortium for Improvement in Erectile Function, Livingston, NJ

Wrote article for professional journal and several online "clinical consult" articles.

 

CarePath Online web documents - Dianon Systems/LabCorp, Stratford, CT
Wrote patient education web documents, covering breast cancer, colon cancer, leukemia, and several other diagnoses.
 

Interactive patient education programs - Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, New York, NY
Developed comprehensive CD-ROM patient education programs on leukemia, breast cancer, and nausea. Organized the interactive structure of each program and wrote all copy.
 

Patient education web sites - WellPoint Pharmacy Management, West Hills, CA
Edited two extensive educational web sites, on asthma and diabetes, to make them more consumer friendly. Edited copy and the interactive structure.
 

Stroke Progress Review Group Report - National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NIH) - Washington, DC
Edited report written by 15 committees of doctors, outlining the future of stroke research. Supervised staff of medical writers during conference of the participating doctors.
 

Harvard Medical School Family Health Guide - Simon & Schuster
Wrote several chapters, edited physician-written chapters, compiled appendix.
